Stephen Mark Shores

Stephen Mark Shores Sr. passed on to his heavenly home on Monday, August 8, 2022, at age 65 surrounded by loved ones at home in Calvert, Texas. He was an amazing grandfather, father, son, brother, and friend.

Stephen was born on November 9, 1956, to William Lloyd and Marilyn Joy Shores in Dallas, TX at Methodist Hospital. Growing up, he had a wonderful childhood full of love and travel alongside his older brother Bill, whom he called Bubba. He graduated from Trinity High School and earned an associates degree in psychology from Arlington Community College. Stephen worked in real estate after graduating for most of his earlier years.

Later in his life, he moved to Robertson County and resided in what he liked to call it, the booming metropolis of Calvert. The quiet, slow-paced life in Calvert was refreshing to him after living in Dallas for so long. He became a supervisor at Lifetime Doors in Hearne, and it was there he met the love of his life and mother to his children, Anastacia Shores. The two married and had two children together, Stephanie and Stephen Jr.

You could often find him reading and listening to music such as classic rock & roll and older R&B. Among many of the things he taught his children, he loved teaching them the history of music. One of his fondest memories is driving his children to school each morning playing all the oldies and quizzing them on who the songwriter and artist were. He loved music and wanted to make sure his children knew his favorite songs by heart.

His family was most important to him, and he took pride in being a father. He gave unconditional love to his family and always loved helping others. Stephen helped many overcome addiction and substance abuse.  He was a generous and noble man. He genuinely wanted the best for everyone. He had a very good sense of humor and seemed to always make a joke to lighten the mood.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cleo Judd Shores Sr. and Ollie Wright Shores, and his maternal grandparents James Tucker Hendrix and Hattie Meier Hendrix.
