Ruby Otto Varvel

Ruby Varvel, 99, of Hearne, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in Round Rock, Texas. The visitation will begin at 5:30 to 7:30, on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the funeral home. Life Celebration service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 20, 2024, at Hearne Church of Christ. Interment will be at 2 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Holly Cemetery in Ridge, Texas. Service are in the care of Memorial Funeral Home.

Ruby was born in Castell, Texas on August 2, 1925, to August Vernon and Amanda Sarah (Hoffman) Otto. She was the second of eight children raised om a farm in Llano County.

After graduating from high school and Nixon-Clay business school in Austin she married Lewis F. Varvel, Jr. and moved to Hearne in 1954 to begin Lewis’ dental career.

She loved being involved in her two children’s activities as they were growing up. Once the children were older, she returned to work in the family dental office and remained there until she was 93 years old.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lewis Frank Varvel, her parents and six siblings. She is survived by her son Tracy (Ann) Varvel, her daughter Theresa (John) Newton, her grandchildren Trent (Amanda) Varvel, Kyle (Liz) Varvel, Adam (Christi) Varvel, Heath (Katie) Newton, Heather (Micah) Reeves, and Holt Newton, her sister Nelda Hohmann, her ten great-grandchildren, Tristian, Thatcher, Emory, Brenna, Ben, Connor, Joel, Ruby, Luke and Andy,

Pallbearers: Grandsons Trent, Kyle, Adam, Heath, Micah and Holt.
