Ross Earl Cunningham, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Gause with his wife Beverly at his side on Wednesday August 31st.
He was born March 4th, 1946 in Palestine, TX, to James Norris and Mildred Davis Cunningham.
Being a Missouri Pacific railroad family, they relocated to Valley Junction when Ross was four years old. He attended Hearne schools and graduated in 1964.
Shortly thereafter Ross began his successful career.
On January 19, 1965 Ross hired out with Missouri Pacific as a Conductor and retired after 35 ½ years.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Norris and Mildred, and Sherry Elliott Cunningham, the mother of his children.
In June of 2000, Ross founded The Master’s Gateway Church in Milano, TX. He fully embraced the call as Pastor for the last 22 years. He led in compassion and mercy. The five-fold ministries (Ephesians 4:11) were welcomed by Ross to also minister in the church.
Ross is survived by his wife, Beverly Athey Cunningham; His brothers, Richard and Dave (Kerri); His children, Alan (Talina), Chad (Katie) and Joni (Gerard). He was Poppie to his grandchildren, Kyle, Emily, J.C., Cooper, Ryan (Sarah), Annsley and Bradley. Also his soon to be born great-grandson Lincoln; His nephew Cody and niece Ginny.
Ross witnessed about Jesus to all he met everywhere, even up to his final days here when he could no longer leave his home.
He prayed faithfully that those he knew would find what he found with his Savior Jesus Christ. For all who knew and loved Ross there will be a void, but all who are born-again in Christ will see Ross again as he has just continued his journey with Jesus.
