Kenneth “Kenny” Pecina, brother, uncle, and friend to many left this Earth unexpectedly September 30, 2023. Service will take place Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home and burial will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Hearne, Texas.
Kenny was born February 12, 1967, in Waco, Texas. He was raised in Calvert where he attended school. Kenny played football and was a member of the Trojan HS band where he played the trumpet and is remembered by many as one of the greatest trumpet players of all time. He loved music and could often be heard playing the drums as you walked by the house.
Kenny was like a “little brother” to many of his friends and they treated him like family often including him in family functions and celebrations.
He always looked forward to spending the holidays with his brother and sisters, nieces, and nephews. And will be best remembered for his jokes and “silliness.”
Kenny did have a serious side and worked alongside his father as an electrician, he was a hard worker and always ready and willing to help with any repairs from small jobs like replacing a light switch and leaky faucets to large projects like wiring and painting.
Kenny is preceded in death by his grandparents, Antonio and Gregoria Martinez, and E.L & Primitiva Pecina, his brother Gregory Pecina, his mother Linda Martinez Pecina, his father Eusebio “Sonny” Pecina. His only son and grandson Kenneth Michael, and Trey Pecina.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Michael (Linda) Pecina of Hearne, TX, Sisters, Monica Mejia, and Melody (Mikey) Espitia as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousin, aunts, uncles, and lifelong friends.
Pallbearers for his service include his nephews Andrew Mejia, Mike “Anthony” Espitia, cousins Manuel Ray Flores IV, Fernando Sosa, and friends who were like family, David Barker, Jeffery Coker, Manuel Lopez, his brother in law, Mikey Espitia.
